Flotilla sailing from Sukosan, Croatia

Sukosan is the starting point of our flotillas. From here, the Kornati islands are right in front of the door. Hundreds of islands and islets inhabited or uninhabited, offer many beautiful and varied anchorages. For a flotilla in the Kornati islands and the northern islands as far as Silba, we take a week. Then we are back in Sukosan and it can be sailed a second week with a new route. This time we will travel south to sail in the area of Sukosan. A particularly beautiful experience is a step in the Bay of Sibenik and another 4.5 nautical miles inland on the Krka river to Skradin. Other objectives are the islands west of Sibenik.

Flotilla sailing from Split (Marina Kastela) Croatia

Kastela - Kastel Gomilicia is a small village 9 km south east from the international airport of Split. From here we have good opportunities to sail one or two week flotillas on the central Dalmatian coast. These mostly larger islands of Solta, Brac, Hvar, Vis and Korcula are rich in freshwater and forested green accordingly. A narrow coastal strip, a fantastic Mediterranean landscape, the contrast could not be. Gigantic ridges limit the silhouette behind Split. On the Makarska Riviera, themountains riseon the coast up to almost 1800 meters above sea level. Nature shows a rich face. For us sailors it is a dream area with green bays, invite for swimming and snorkeling, as well as safe harbors and marinas.
This area is may be a littlemore challenging than the Kornati Flotilla
. Anchoring and docking maneuvers with moorings in small harbors or marinas should not be a foreign concept. Nevertheless, this flotilla is also well suited to the slightly more experienced families.

The daily distances (15-25 nm) will be discussed at a morning briefing. The team is always ready to show you the most beautiful and safest anchorages. An individual trip planning is the first priority and which is fixed daily by the leader team. Our flotilla skippers are german and english speaking and our guests come mainly from the German speaking countries and England.  Depending on the season we have up. 6 yachts in our flotilla. The flotilla will take place guaranteed.

Marinas, harbors, anchorages
Croatia has a relatively dense network of marinas, small town and fishing harbors. Service and supply in the major ports are good. In the smaller ports, the supply is limited. Quite high prices can be found in the larger marinas. An alternative are the "Konobas", small owner-operated bars directly on the shore, which hosts sailors "who eats at me can stay for free". But also there are many good anchorages in bays along the coast. In many bays are now fee-mooring buoys for yachts. We try our flotilla a healthy mix of bays and marinas and go 1-2x per week in a marina.

Wind and Weather
The Summer Wind "Maestrale" (Mistral) brings mostly moderate, north-westerly winds to 4 Bft. If the Adriatic is under the influence of an Atlantic low pressure, can from the south the Yugo, or even called sirocco, strong blow to 8 Bft. Especially in Dalmatia, between Island of Murter and Split and the Makarska coast, the Bora can come from the northeast. She is strong gusty, often reached gale force and their short gusts use with no visible sign. Along the coastline you can easily see the main arterial corridors: bare rock with no trees and shrubs. The current sailing weather Zadar area.

Passport, driver's licenses, taxes
For yacht charter in Croatia a driving licence is required. That means the skipper must have RYA Day Skipper Practical certificate or RYA ICC qualification. These can be obtained from RYA sailing schools in the UK. All sailing yachts in Croatia must have a VHF telephone system features. As a result, at least one crew member must have a VHF radio operator's certificate. This certificate (incl. croatian driver's license) can be purchased at the local port authority. We recommend to do a radio license in your Home country.

In Croatia, tourists must pay a tourist tax. From the 2009 season, the tax is also payable for yacht charter and is usually charged at the check-in. The price is approximate EUR 1,00 per person, per day ( April 2011).

Getting there
Since 2004, the motorway from Zagreb to Split is ready. By car you need now for the distance from Zagreb to Zadar or Sukosan 3 hours drive. By air you can fly to Zadar or Split with charter airlines. We can arrange transfers and flights.
